Falling In Love With God All Over Again
IN AWE OF GOD
Today I woke up thinking about how awesome God is. I began to think about all that He has blessed us with just because He loves us. The same God that put the stars in the sky and told them to stay is the same God that created every single thing you see and hear and smell!
He created over 400,000 different varieties of flowers and over 950,000 species of bugs! Think about that a minute.
That is a lot of flowers and bugs! God not only designed each individual flower and bug, but he also gave them characteristics and told them how they are to behave. Yes, he gave them their own characteristics. A beetle doesn't act like a monkey and an ant doesn't act like a Gerber daisy. Some call that instinct but they had to get that instinct from somewhere, right? Obviously, it came from their creator.
"Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power. For thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure, they are and were created." (Revelation 4:11)
As my day went on, my awe of God felt squelched with day-to-day issues bogging me down. You ever have one of those days that you feel like everything is going wrong and nothing you do can fix it? That was the sort of day I had.
Near the end of my rope, I gazed out the window and saw the most amazing thing.
It was a bright sunny day and numerous jet streams were streaking across the sky. Suddenly I realized I was seeing a partial rainbow sticking out on each side of the ball of sun. The ends disappeared into puffy white clouds but the rainbow was there!
I have never seen one like that before in my life and it really brought into perspective the fact that I was stressing over things I couldn’t do a thing about. It was like God was reminding me that He is in control and if I would just turn to him he would do things I couldn’t even imagine.
MAN IS GOD’S GREATEST CREATION
God created all those things because he is a creator. He can't help himself. But God didn't stop there. He created his greatest creation...US! God created man in his image with his likeness and characteristics. What a great honor that is. He loves us that much!
"For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well.
My frame wasn't hidden from you, when I was made in secret, woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my body.
In your book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there were none of them.
How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is their sum! If I would count them, they are more in number than the sand. When I wake up, I am still with you."
(Psalm 139:13-18)
We can see that God thought out and designed every single person so that no two would be the same. Even identical twins are not identical. God created each of us one at a time and decided our hair and skin color, cowlicks, freckles, dimples, one finger longer than the other, our height, our ability to retain and recall information, etc.
Not once did God say "You 5000 people over there will have red hair this exact shade and you 2000 over there will have a dimple exactly right here in your chin." No. He created each one of us individually and watches over us every second of our lives.
When you look in the mirror know that God created all that you can see (and what can't be seen) because he wanted a person exactly like you. Yes, Father God wanted YOU.
He is so mighty he has the ability to hear our words, both spoken and unspoken. But not just our words. He hears the words of every single person, born and unborn, in the entire world all at the same time. He knows our past, exactly what is happening to us now, and our future.
Do you ever stand in a crowded room with everyone talking at once and try to hear one person? Do you ever get flustered and call your kids or someone else by a different name? Not God. Not once has He confused you with someone else.
God doesn’t ask for anything in return except our love and devotion.

IN CONCLUSION
As you look around your world today, allow yourself to slow down. Give yourself permission to adjust your perspective and think about the amazing ways God has chosen to bless you. The world may see what you're seeing as boring and no big deal but you can choose to view it differently and appreciate it for what it is...a blessing from God.
Freely give God praise for all that he provides for us. It could be something as ordinary as the grass under our feet or something more complex like a rainbow, a partial rainbow, or even a double rainbow. God isn’t limited to the way we are. He always knows just what we need, exactly when we need it.
God is always there watching, listening, and waiting for us to run to him so he can bless us. His love for us is humbling and I am so grateful for it. Father God didn't have to create any of us, give us gorgeous rainbows on sunny days as his promise. He doesn’t even have to love us or give us so many different breeds of puppies to choose from.
But even more important than any of those other things, Father God didn't have to send his only son to die for us or allow us into his heavenly places.
But he does all the above and more simply because he loves us! Our God is an awesome, amazing God!
THREE VERSES TO MEDITATE ON
“I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.”
(Psalm 9:1)
“O come, let us sing for joy to the Lord. Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation. Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving. Let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.”
(Psalm 95:1-3)
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all this is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”
(Psalm 103:1-5)
MY PRAYER
Father God, I am in awe of you! Thank you for your amazing kindness, power, and love. Thank you for taking me by the hand, slowing me down, and pointing out things in your creation that I have overlooked many times before. Forgive me for wrapping my days with complaints instead of thankfulness.
I pray that I never forget how much thought and love went into creating everything I see, hear, touch, taste, and smell. But also, the things I cannot see that are not hidden or forgotten by you. Please continue to open my eyes to see and my ears to hear.
Lord, you alone are worthy of our praise and devotion. You alone are the creator of heaven and earth and all that is within. You alone give me hope and inspiration. Thank you for the life you have given me…and what an awesome gift it is!
In Jesus’ mighty name I give you praise, Amen!
